It was around 18 months ago that I first tasted Momento’s Grenache. I remember it vividly – perfumed, pure and oh-so-pretty, yet with beautiful persistence on the palate. I remember even more vividly looking at the price and being amazed: this wine was a steal. This week, I finally had the chance to sit down with the winemaker behind the project – Marelise Niemann – and taste through her range. Spoiler: she’s as lively, enchanting and unassuming as her wines.
